Log Home Building Class - Boston, MA

Well, it's been a hectic month or two with work, so I was unable to update this blog. On May 27, we attended the LHBA Log Home Building Class in Boston, MA. We had a lot of fun in the city, and it was tough to leave.

The Log Home class was good, but I think we had much more fun watching the Celtics vs. Magic playoff game. We had awesome seats.

Right now, we are saving and planning. Over the next year or two, we will probably visit some other LHBA log homes & offer help & labor. We are not building anytime soon, so we will be making blog updates on a very sporadic basis.

We're happy to be home. We loved Boston. Lots of information absorbed in the class. See y'all in a few months.

Log Home Chinking Party

A few weeks back, Ashley and I had the chance to help out two members from the LHBA on their log home. When we first arrived, we were completely awestruck. Neither of us had ever seen anything like it. Huge logs, beautiful golden stain, and plenty of insulation and nails! These logs were massive. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to get there, but it was well worth it. We spent most of the morning stuffing insulation and bending nails, but after lunch, we were troweling mortar. It wasn't easy, but after a couple of hours, we seemed to be getting the hang of it. We had to leave early, but we did as much as we could while we were there. In the end, we're even more excited for the class, and we can't wait to start planning.

Our Log Home

After three years of researching and dreaming, we're finally in the position to start our log home adventure. Following a 900 mile move, 2 new jobs, a coonhound and an engagement, we've finally saved and signed up for a log home building class in Boston, MA. Last weekend, we traveled to Wilsonville, AL to see our first butt & pass log home, and we're hooked. We can't wait to learn more, and we hope to build our first log home in the near future.
